I recently tried out aura photography (last July) and for me, I’ve found it is such a unique way to pause and reflect. It acts as a snapshot of your energetic state captured in vibrant color. It blends science, spirituality, and a bit of artistry to create a visual representation of the energy we carry. Yes, I’m a lawyer, but I also have so many ‘non-corporate’ hobbies and interests that it can sometimes feel like I don’t quite fit in… so I’ve learned to carve out my own space.
That said, recently, I had the chance to compare two sets of aura photos taken during two truly transformative times in my life: the first in July 2024, when I was eight months pregnant, and the second four months postpartum. Both sets were taken at Soul Glow Aura in Palm Springs, a very warm and welcoming studio known for its thoughtful readings.
In this blog, I’ll break down what I noticed in these photos, how the colors shifted between pregnancy and postpartum, and why aura photography can be such a powerful tool for self-awareness.
Aura Photography: The Basics
Aura photography uses specialized equipment to translate your biofeedback—like temperature and electromagnetic field—into a colorful image. Each color represents something different about your emotional, mental, and spiritual state at that moment:
- Red: Passion, energy, drive
- Orange: Creativity, confidence, joy
- Yellow: Optimism, intellect, clarity
- Green: Healing, compassion, growth
- Blue: Calm, communication, trust
- Purple: Intuition, spirituality, connection
- White: Higher consciousness, clarity, spiritual alignment
Your aura isn’t fixed; it shifts as you move through different seasons of life, growth, and change. The owner, Angelina – truly captures your energy if you choose to follow your photography with a reading. Since she told us that our auras and energy are always changing, I wanted to make sure to head back on our recent trip to Palm Springs because in the time that I had last had my aura photo taken – I had a baby!
July 2024: The Aura of Pregnancy
We typically go to Palm Springs for my birthday each yer, but this last year was different. I was 8 months pregnant! So we tried the aura readings and it was beautiful.
At eight months pregnant, my aura radiated deep hues of blue, green, and touches of yellow.
Blue Dominance: This deep blue felt calm, steady, and protective. It reflected the sense of trust I had in my body and the connection I felt with the little life growing inside me.
Green Undertones: Green represents healing and nurturing, and in this stage, it felt like a reflection of the emotional and physical space I was holding for myself and my baby.
Yellow Highlights: Small sparks of yellow felt like little bursts of joy, optimism, and clarity in the midst of such an intense time.
I also had the presence of 5 guides – 3 male, and 2 female. I felt very spiritually surrounded during pregnancy.
Looking at these photos, the energy feels cocoon-like—centered, intentional, and deeply protective to me. The reason I felt so drawn to aura photography and doing it again was because it felt so accurate.
Pregnancy is such an introspective chapter. And it certainly was for me, too. The reflection of these colors felt like a visual diary of how I was holding immense space for myself, my baby, and the transformation happening on every level.
November 2024: The Aura of Postpartum
Fast forward four months postpartum, and the shift in energy is undeniable. You can literally see it in the photo! My colors are lighter, more expansive, with prominent hues of white, violet, and soft blue.
White Crown Glow: White in an aura often represents clarity, connection, and a heightened sense of awareness. This felt like a reflection of the profound shift into motherhood and the lessons learned in those early months.
Violet and Purple Tones: These shades carry themes of intuition and spirituality, which felt deeply aligned with the raw vulnerability and reflection that come with postpartum. I do feel so much more open and connected to source and all things universe. I feel like I can read my baby’s cues but also others as well.
Soft Blue: Blue remained, but it softened—less protective, more open. It felt like a shift from preparation to nurturing.
Motherhood has stretched and softened me in ways you I couldn’t have anticipated. These lighter tones feel like surrender, clarity, and an embrace of this new version of myself.
Aura Shift: Pregnancy vs. Postpartum
Comparing these two sets of photos side by side, the changes are both subtle and significant:
- Pregnancy Aura: Grounded, nurturing, protective energy focused inward.
- Postpartum Aura: Expansive, reflective, and open energy stretching outward.
The transition from deep, cocoon-like hues to lighter, airy tones mirrors the emotional and spiritual journey of moving from carrying life within to caring for life outside.
Pregnancy was about focused stillness, while postpartum feels like an unfolding—like opening the curtains to let the light flood in after a long night.
Why Aura Photography is Worth Experiencing
These photos aren’t just pretty snapshots—they’re reflections of your inner world. Even if you’re not pregnant, They offer:
- A Pause for Reflection: A tangible way to see your energy.
- Validation of Intuition: Proof that what you’ve been feeling is real.
- A Deeper Connection: To yourself, your journey, and something bigger.
The experience goes beyond just taking a photo—it’s about understanding what those colors mean and how they align with your story.
Seeing these two sets of photos side by side feels like holding up a mirror to my soul. They tell a story of growth, love, and resilience that words alone could never fully capture.
If you’re ever in Palm Springs, I can’t recommend Soul Glow Aura enough. Whether you’re pregnant, postpartum, or simply navigating a new season of life, it’s such a beautiful way to pause, honor your journey, and celebrate the light you bring into the world.
